School messaging and parent communication that stays organised
Ilmoria keeps conversations between students, teachers, parents and the school office inside the platform where learning already happens. Parents choose a topic before they write, so each message reaches the right person, and the school keeps the full history instead of scattered chats on personal phones.
Categorised parent conversations
Parents pick general, academic, attendance, payments or behaviour, so the right team answers.
Student–teacher messages
Students ask about a lesson or assignment without leaving the platform or sharing phone numbers.
Threads staff can close
Office staff close a conversation once it is resolved and reopen it if the parent follows up.
Parents reach the right team the first time
Parents start a conversation from the parent portal with the school office, the administration or a specific teacher. Before writing, they choose a category. That small step means a question about an overdue invoice is clearly marked for the people who handle payments, and a concern about a missed test is clearly marked for the academic team. Staff see the category as soon as they open the conversation, so they know who should answer before they read the details, and urgent attendance questions are not lost among general requests.
- General: timetables, events and everyday questions
- Academic: grades, coursework and teacher feedback
- Attendance: absences and late arrivals
- Payments: invoices, receipts and payment status
- Behaviour: conduct and discipline questions
Students and teachers talk about the work
Students message their teacher from inside Ilmoria when they are stuck on a lesson, unsure about an assignment brief or want to ask about a mark. Teachers answer from the same account they use to build lessons and mark work, so there is no separate chat app to manage and no personal phone number to share. This matters most in self-paced study. Ilmoria grew out of the platform Ithraa School uses for its grades 9–12 courses, where students move through self-paced courses with the help of mentors. In corporate training, the same messages connect employees with their managers and trainers.
Office staff keep every thread under control
Parent conversations belong to the school, not to one person's inbox. When a question is answered, staff close the conversation, so the team can focus on what still needs attention. If the parent writes again about the same issue, staff reopen it and the earlier messages are still there, so nobody asks the family to explain twice. When a parent or student reports that something looks wrong, an administrator can “log in as” that user in read-only stealth mode to see exactly what they see. That access expires automatically after 2 hours.
Notifications in the language each person reads
In-app notifications tell students, parents and staff when something new arrives, so nobody has to keep checking. Every messaging screen is available in English and Arabic, and each person chooses their own language, with Arabic shown fully right to left. Messages themselves are never machine-translated. What a parent writes in Arabic arrives in Arabic, and what a teacher writes in English stays in English, so software never changes the meaning on the way. See how Arabic and English work side by side across the platform.
Questions buyers ask
Can parents message teachers directly?
Yes. From the parent portal, parents can start a conversation with a teacher, the school office or the administration. They choose a category first, such as academic or attendance, so the topic is clear from the start. Teachers reply inside Ilmoria, which means personal phone numbers stay private and the school keeps a complete record of what was said.
Does Ilmoria send SMS or WhatsApp messages?
No. Notifications in Ilmoria are in-app, and conversations happen inside the platform. Because Ilmoria is mobile-friendly and can be installed on a phone's home screen as a web app, parents and students can follow their messages from their phones. Enterprise plans include a REST API and webhooks if your IT team wants to connect Ilmoria to other systems.
What happens when a conversation is closed?
Closing a conversation marks it as resolved while keeping its full history. If the parent follows up on the same issue, staff can reopen it and continue where they left off, with every earlier message in view. This keeps the office focused on what still needs an answer without losing the record of what has already been agreed.
Are messages translated automatically?
No. Text that people write themselves is never auto-translated in Ilmoria. A message arrives exactly as its author wrote it, in Arabic, English or a mix of both. The interface around it, including menus, buttons and labels, is fully available in both languages, and each user picks the one they prefer to work in.
Does messaging work for corporate training?
Yes. In a corporate account, employees message their managers and trainers in the same way students message teachers, and the parent features are simply not used. Questions about a course or assessment stay inside the training platform, so employees do not need a separate chat tool and managers do not have to mix training questions into their email.
