An LMS in Algeria for Arabic, French and English learning
الجزائر
Ilmoria is a learning management system for Algerian private schools, universities, training institutes and companies. Teachers build courses in Arabic, French or English, run exams and live classes, and share progress with parents. Every screen is available in English and in fully right-to-left Arabic.
Education and training in Algeria
A shift toward English
Arabic is the main language of schooling, French has long been used in science and higher education, and English is growing fast. English has been taught from the third year of primary school since 2022, and universities have been encouraged to teach more modules in English. Teachers often need to prepare material in more than one language.
A large, mostly public system
The Ministry of National Education runs a large public school system, and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research oversees universities across the country's provinces. Distance learning has been used widely in universities since 2020. Private schools and training institutes form a smaller segment that works under ministry rules.
Connectivity and exam periods
Internet speed varies between north and south and between cities and rural areas, and in several years access has been restricted nationally during baccalaureate exam days. Institutions planning online assessments should schedule around these periods and choose tools that work on phones.
How Ilmoria fits institutions in Algeria
French and English content, Arabic interface
Teachers write lessons, questions and course books in Arabic, French or English, with an equation editor and LaTeX for maths and science. The interface is in English and fully right-to-left Arabic; a French interface is something to ask us about. See the course builder.
Self-paced study with live sessions
Students work through self-paced lessons and quizzes in any modern browser, and can install Ilmoria as a web app on their phone. Live classes run on Zoom, Google Meet or Microsoft Teams links, and target completion dates give students room to catch up after a poor connection day.
Exams with integrity monitoring
Teachers set time limits, attempt limits and randomised questions, and each attempt gets an integrity score from browser events such as leaving the tab. Suspicious attempts are flagged for review, and final exam grades can require approval. Learn more about assessments.
Certificates that are easy to verify
Training institutes and universities issue completion, achievement and enrolment certificates as branded PDFs with serial numbers and QR codes. Employers scan the code to open a public verification page and confirm the certificate is genuine.
Training for companies
Companies can run each site or business unit with its own branding and users, assign courses in French, Arabic or English, and let managers follow completion. Staff sign in with Google or Microsoft, with SAML single sign-on on enterprise plans.

Data protection: what to check
Algeria's Law No. 18-07 of 2018 on the protection of individuals in the processing of personal data has been enforced by the National Authority for the Protection of Personal Data (ANPDP) since 2023, and Law No. 25-11 of 2025 amended and strengthened it. Processing generally has to be declared to the authority, some needs prior authorisation, and transfers abroad require its authorisation. Controllers must appoint a data protection officer, and the law sets breach notification duties. Check consent, access rights, retention periods and hosting location. Ilmoria provides consent records, role-based access, and data export and deletion on request. Talk to us about hosting regions.
SecurityQuestions buyers ask
Can we teach in French and English on Ilmoria?
Yes, course content can be written in French, English or Arabic, and one course can mix languages. Teachers build lessons, quizzes and course books in the language of each module. The interface is available in English and Arabic today; if your staff or students need French screens, ask us about it during your demo.
How should Algerian institutions run online exams when connectivity is unreliable?
Schedule exams as windows rather than single fixed start times, and allow for interruptions. Teachers can set a deadline, a time limit per attempt and more than one attempt where appropriate. Integrity scores and flagged attempts still give teachers a record to review. Avoid scheduling online exams during national exam periods.
Does Ilmoria help with Law 18-07 obligations?
Ilmoria provides tools that help, but it does not make your institution compliant on its own. You can record consent, restrict access by role, review audit trails, and export or delete a person's data on request. Declarations, authorisations and your data protection officer's role are matters to review with your legal adviser.
Can Algerian universities use Ilmoria for English-taught modules?
Yes. Faculties moving modules into English can build them with slide-based lessons, course books with notes and vocabulary, and quizzes. Optional AI assistance can explain a highlighted passage or translate a sentence with a simple explanation, which helps students who are still building their English. Arabic and French material can sit in the same course.
Can training institutes issue certificates through Ilmoria?
Yes. Institutes issue course completion, achievement and enrolment certificates as branded PDFs with serial numbers and QR codes. Anyone holding the certificate can scan the code to open a public verification page, which helps employers confirm that a certificate is genuine without calling the institute.
