An AI teaching assistant that supports teachers, not replaces them
Ilmoria includes a small set of AI tools that help students understand what they read and help teachers prepare materials faster. Each tool does one clear job, and none of them marks work or decides grades. AI assistance is optional, and your institution decides whether it is switched on.
Explanations on demand
Students highlight a course-book passage and get a plain-language explanation.
Practice from any page
A short practice quiz from the page being read, for a quick self-check.
Your institution decides
AI assistance is optional and controlled by the institution, so you can switch it off.
Help with the reading, right where students read
Course books in Ilmoria open in a built-in PDF reader where students highlight, take notes and build vocabulary lists. When a passage does not make sense, a student highlights it and asks for an explanation in simpler words. When they finish a page, they can generate a short practice quiz from it to check their understanding before moving on. Both happen inside the course book, so students do not need to paste course material into an outside chatbot. Teachers set up course books alongside lessons in the course builder.
Language support for bilingual classrooms
Many students in the region study in a language that is not their first. When a student meets a sentence they cannot follow, they can ask Ilmoria to translate it and give a simple explanation of what it means. The tool works one sentence at a time, on request, which keeps the student reading in the language of the course rather than switching to a full translation. Nothing else is translated automatically: lessons, messages and submissions stay exactly as people wrote them. Read more about how Ilmoria handles Arabic and English.
Faster preparation for teachers
Typing maths is slow, and many teachers write equations faster by hand. In Ilmoria, a teacher can take a photo of a handwritten equation and turn it into LaTeX, then check and adjust it in the equation editor before placing it in a lesson. This helps maths and science teachers build slide-based lessons without learning LaTeX syntax first. Course authors can also generate cover art for a course book, so a new book has a clean, consistent cover without waiting for a designer to make one.
What the AI does not do
AI explanations can be wrong or incomplete, so Ilmoria keeps AI to study help and preparation and leaves decisions about learners to people. Teachers stay responsible for teaching, marking and grading, and students can always message their teacher when an explanation does not help.
- It does not mark work. Objective questions are marked automatically against the answer key, and written answers go to the teacher.
- It does not change grades. Final grades need teacher confirmation, and any admin override needs a reason.
- It does not translate what people write. Messages, submissions and feedback stay in the language they were written in.
- It does not write assignments for students. The tools explain, quiz and translate single sentences.
Your institution stays in control
AI assistance in Ilmoria is optional and institution-controlled, and your administrators decide whether it is switched on. Schools whose policies do not yet allow AI tools, or which want to introduce them later, can leave it off, and every other part of Ilmoria works in exactly the same way. If you want to understand how AI requests are handled before switching anything on, ask us during a demo and we will go through it with your IT and safeguarding leads.
Questions buyers ask
Can we switch the AI features off?
Yes. AI assistance in Ilmoria is optional and controlled by your institution. If you switch it off, the AI tools are not available to your users, and everything else, including course books, lessons, quizzes and the gradebook, works as normal. You can decide to switch it on later, once your policies are ready.
Does the AI mark students' work?
No. Objective questions such as multiple choice or matching are marked automatically against the answer key, which is ordinary rule-based marking, not AI. Essays and other written answers go to the teacher's marking queue, where the teacher sees the answer key and decides the mark. Final course grades also need the teacher's confirmation.
Can students use it to write their assignments?
No. Ilmoria's AI tools are built for understanding, not for producing work. They explain a highlighted passage, make a short practice quiz from a page or translate a single sentence with a simple explanation. Ilmoria does not include a general writing assistant that drafts essays or answers assignment questions, and institutions can switch AI assistance off entirely.
How does the handwritten equation tool work?
A teacher takes a photo of an equation written on paper or a whiteboard, and Ilmoria turns it into LaTeX. The teacher checks the result, corrects anything the AI misread, and places it in a lesson as a maths block. It saves time for maths and science teachers who work faster with a pen than a keyboard.
Does the AI replace teachers?
No. The tools help students with reading and revision and help teachers prepare materials, but teaching, feedback, marking and grading stay with teachers. When an AI explanation is not enough, students can message their teacher directly from Ilmoria, and the teacher answers with the context of the course they built.
