Secondary reform: Thanaweya Amma and the Baccalaureate
Schools fall under the Ministry of Education and Technical Education, which has been reshaping secondary education. Law No. 189 of 2025 added the Egyptian Baccalaureate as an optional track, with more than one exam attempt, alongside the Thanaweya Amma. That makes it more important to track a student's progress across the year, not only in a single final exam.
A large and varied higher education sector
The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research oversees one of the largest university systems in the region, with public, private and national (ahleya) universities and branch campuses of foreign universities. Many programmes are taught in English, and blended learning has stayed in use since 2020.
International schools, corporate training and phones
Private, language and international schools teaching British, American, IB and other curricula serve a large number of families, especially in Greater Cairo and Alexandria. Data protection: what to check
Egypt's Personal Data Protection Law No. 151 of 2020 is overseen by the Personal Data Protection Centre. Its executive regulations, issued in late 2025 with a one-year transition period, set out licences for controllers and processors, data protection officers, and conditions for transferring data abroad, including to cloud services. Children's data needs a parent's consent, and consent notices should be available in Arabic. Check how you collect consent, who can access records, how long you keep them and where they are hosted. Can Ilmoria support schools preparing students for Thanaweya Amma or the Egyptian Baccalaureate?
Yes. Schools set up grade levels, courses and assessments to match their programme, and teachers build practice quizzes and mock exams with time limits, randomised questions and automatic marking. The gradebook and competency tracking show progress through the year, which matters more now that the Baccalaureate track allows more than one exam attempt.
Does Ilmoria work for international schools in Egypt?
Yes. International schools can run British, American or IB courses in English while parents use the Arabic interface. Gradebooks support points, percentages and letter grades, transcripts include GPA and credits, and certificates carry QR codes for verification. How does Ilmoria relate to Egypt's Personal Data Protection Law?
Ilmoria gives you tools that help with obligations under Law No. 151 of 2020, but it does not make your institution compliant on its own. You can record consent, restrict access by role, review audit trails, and export or delete data on request. Licensing, data protection officers and transfer approvals are matters to review with your legal adviser.
Can Egyptian companies use Ilmoria for employee training?
Yes. Corporate accounts use admin, manager or trainer, and employee roles. Employees take courses and quizzes on any device, managers follow completion, and certificates carry serial numbers and QR codes. Large groups can run separate business units under one account and sign in with Google or Microsoft, or SAML single sign-on on enterprise plans.
Is there an Arabic interface for parents who do not read English?
Yes. Every screen is available in Arabic with a full right-to-left layout, and each parent chooses their language. Parents see grades, final grades, invoices and receipts, and message the school about academic, attendance, payment or behaviour topics. Staff can adjust any Arabic interface wording to match the terms your school uses.
