Education and training in Oman
Ministries and a quality assurance authority
The Ministry of Education oversees public and private schools, and the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation oversees colleges and universities. The Oman Authority for Academic Accreditation and Quality Assurance of Education (OAAAQA), renamed with a wider mandate in 2021, accredits higher education institutions and programmes and also assesses schools.
English-medium colleges and foundation years
Public schools teach mainly in Arabic, while many colleges and universities teach in English, so students often start with a foundation programme that builds English, maths and IT skills before degree study. Private schools teach in Arabic, English or both, and some follow British, American, IB or Indian curricula.

Data protection: what to check
Oman's Personal Data Protection Law, issued by Royal Decree 6/2022, and its Executive Regulations (Ministerial Decision 34/2024) are supervised by the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, and the transition period for compliance ended in February 2026. The law requires explicit consent in many cases, including as a condition for transferring data abroad, and adds extra conditions for sensitive data. Review your consent records, who can see which data, how long you keep it and where it is stored. Yes. Admissions teams can set placement tests in maths, English and science, then enrol students into the right courses for their level. Competency and mastery tracking shows progress against the outcomes you define, and when students move into degree study, final grades feed transcripts with GPA and credits.
Can a college run live lectures through Ilmoria?
Yes. Lecturers schedule live sessions per section or year group and attach a Zoom, Google Meet or Microsoft Teams link. Ilmoria does not submit data to Ministry of Labour systems, but you can export training records as CSV files whenever you need to report on them internally or to a client.
How do we move users and courses into Ilmoria?
Import users, courses and grades from CSV files, then build or adjust lessons in the course builder. Enterprise plans add a REST API and webhooks for ongoing connections with other systems. Planning the switch for the start of a semester means students and staff begin the term on one platform.
